7 Days to Departure

And the journey begins... For nearly ten years I have been dying to travel through South America, to taste the food, enjoy the music and dive into the unique culture of every country, city and town. Through the years I have had the opportunity to visit both Peru and Colombia but not nearly enough time to truly absorb the culture. I'm convinced that somewhere in South America lies the key to happiness, perhaps in Colombia for I'm quite sure that to date every Colombian I have met has had  a passion for life without measure. So although this journey has taken me longer than I expected, I am finally  on my way and this time with a tool in my bag that will hopefully do some good...A medical degree just three months short of completion. I am very fortunate to attend a medical school that promotes Global Medicine and so they approved me to work in Argentina to complete two months of Rural Medicine in La Rioja but my trip includes much more than just Argentina. I will Start in Buenos Aires trek through Uruguay, find my way back to Argentina and make my way across the country to La Rioja from there I have two months to work with some weekend adventures around the area. After two months in Argentina, I will fly up to Colombia to work in Bucaramanga for 1 month. I'm excited for what I know is ahead of me and for the unplanned adventure but most of all I am excited to be at a point in my life where I feel like I just couldn't be any happier. I am grateful for all of the people have have helped me get to this point, for those who have participated in my medical training throughout the years, for the family that has supported me through the tears and laughter during medical school and for the friends who have happily shared a beer with me after longs hours of work. I decided to start this blog to share my adventures with those people who have enabled me to get to where I am at today. So to all of you, Thank you.
